NYC and WJI

Don't you love the way that we abbreviate everything these days. Of course we should all know the meaning of NYC (just in case it stands for New York City). WJI however most of you aren't familiar with (unless you've been reading my blog for a while). It stands for World Journalist Institute.

The more I learn about WJI, the more I am impressed by what they are doing, what their vision is and how they are carrying out their vision.

Today is the third day of classes. We have been learning a little bit about apologetics to help us remember the worldview that we are to write from as a journalist. I have learned so much, too much to talk about in this short blog.

Last night we had a mock press conference. It was great fun for me since I have never been to a press conference. We were given a press release, expected to do research and come up with questions to ask. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to come up with any good questions but thankfully I did J. After the press conference we were expected to write a 250 word article based on information gathered through the press release, research and press conference. I'll post my article later.

Another little fun thing yesterday. In the afternoon after class (and before the press conference) I went with some of my classmates to study in Bryant Park, a nice little part about 5 blocks from our apartments. Very fun and someone even asked us for directions…we must have looked like real New Yorkers. I love the fact that I get to LIVE in NYC for three weeks. Who, especially as a journalist, wouldn't love that opportunity?

More to come, keep reading!
