I’m leaving… on a jet plane

Ok sorry for that odd reminder of a popular song from my early teen years. But hey its true.

Go be praised, I picked up my new, and temporary passport at the America Embassy at 1 pm today. Its temporary in that its only good for one year during which time I can apply for a permanent one, valid for ten years….and I won't have to pay for the new one.

We made it to the Kenyan Immigration before they reopened at 2 pm and rushed in once the doors were finally opened. I got my dependents pass re-stamped easily and then paid 200 shillings to get a new re-entry permit which means that when I come back to Kenya I just breeze through immigration without paying anything!! YEY for that and yey for saving $100 dollars.

So I leave at 11:20 Kenyan time…that will be 4:20pm your time. Of course I will get to hang out at the airport for about 3 hours. I fly from here to London Heathrow then to Chicago and finally to Atlanta. I think I get into Atlanta about 9:15 tomorrow night (eastern standard time) and Gary and Cathy will pick me up there.
